Getting Started

PetAura is a personalized pet health and care tracking app for dogs and cats. You can log your pet's daily activity, set reminders for vaccines and medications, view health trends over time, store vet records, and get AI-powered insights - all tailored to your pet's specific breed, age, and health profile.

PetAura currently supports dogs and cats. Breed, age, sex, and health profile all influence the personalization of your pet's care recommendations and AI insights.

Yes, a free account is required. Your account is created with an email address and password - no social login is needed.

PetAura has a free tier with daily usage limits. You can also start a 14-day free trial of Premium when you first set up your account. See the Pricing for a full comparison.


Account and Login

Open the PetAura app and tap Sign Up. Enter your email address, create a password, and follow the setup steps to add your first pet.

On the login screen, tap Forgot Password and enter the email address you used to sign up. You'll receive an email with a link to reset your password. Check your spam or junk folder if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.

Once logged in, go to More → Settings → Account → Change Password.

Contact us at [email protected] with your current email and the new email address you'd like to use.

Yes. Log in with the same account on any device and your data will be synchronized.

You can request account deletion at any time - no need to open the app:

Once your request is received, we will permanently delete your account, all pet profiles, health logs, reminders, uploaded documents, and AI conversation history within 7 business days.

You can also submit a deletion request directly by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and your registered email address.


Pets and Profiles

After completing setup, go to More → Pets → Add Pet and follow the prompts. You'll enter your pet's name, species, breed, sex, birthday, and basic health information.

  • Free tier: 1 pet
  • Premium tier: Up to 3 pets

Yes. During pet setup, you can select a primary breed and optionally a secondary breed, or mark your pet as mixed breed.

Go to More → Pets, select your pet, and tap Edit Profile.

Go to your pet's profile and tap the photo area to upload or take a photo. Photos are stored securely in PetAura's cloud storage.

Yes. Go to More → Pets, select the pet, scroll to the bottom, and tap Remove Pet. This permanently deletes all data associated with that pet.


Daily Logging

You can log six types of daily activity:

  • Food - meals, snacks, and treats (brand and type)
  • Activity - walks, play sessions, exercise
  • Mood - your observation of how your pet is feeling
  • Weight - measured weight entries
  • Bathroom - frequency and quality
  • Sleep - duration and quality observations

You can also log symptoms you observe, which feeds into your pet's health trend data.

From the Home screen, tap Log Today or tap the + button. Select the log type and fill in the details.

Yes. When adding a log entry, you can change the date to log something you forgot to record earlier.

Your recent logs appear on the Home screen. For a full history, use the Logs section in the app.


Reminders

You can set reminders for:

  • Vaccines
  • Medications
  • Grooming appointments
  • Vet visits
  • Preventative care (flea/tick, heartworm, etc.)
  • Training sessions
  • Custom reminders

Tap the Reminders tab at the bottom of the screen and tap Add Reminder. Choose the type, set a due date, and optionally configure a recurring schedule (weekly, monthly, etc.).

Yes. When creating or editing a reminder, you can set a recurring schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, or a custom interval).

In the Reminders tab, tap the checkmark or swipe the reminder to mark it complete.

Make sure you have granted PetAura permission to send notifications on your device:

  • iOS: Settings → PetAura → Notifications → Allow Notifications
  • Android: Settings → Apps → PetAura → Notifications → Allow

Also ensure your notification preferences are turned on inside the app: More → Settings → Notifications.

Note: In-app push notification delivery is a feature currently in development. If you are not receiving device notifications, this may not yet be available in your version of the app. Reminders are always visible within the Reminders tab.


AI Assistant

The AI Assistant lets you ask questions about your pet's health, behavior, and care - and receive personalized, breed- and age-aware responses. You can also request AI-generated health insights based on your pet's logged data.

You've used your daily allocation of AI queries. Your limit resets at midnight. To increase your daily limit, upgrade to Premium - see Pricing.

No. The AI Assistant provides informational responses only. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for health concerns. See our full veterinary disclaimer.

Your AI queries and the responses you receive are stored in your PetAura account. Your query text is transmitted to our third-party AI provider (Abacus AI) for processing. We do not use your conversations to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Your AI conversation history is deleted when you delete your account (see "How do I delete my account?" above). In-app deletion of individual conversations is not currently available.


Local Pet Services

Local Services lets you search for nearby vets, groomers, and pet stores based on your postal code. Results come from a curated database of service providers.

From the More menu, tap Local Services and search by postal code or browse by category.

No. PetAura does not access your device's GPS. Service searches use the postal code stored in your profile. You can update your postal code in More → Settings → Account.


Health Records and Documents

In the Health Records section, you can store:

  • Known medical conditions
  • Allergies (food, environmental, medication)
  • Current medications
  • Surgical history
  • Vaccination records (as uploaded documents)
  • Primary and emergency vet contact information
  • Microchip number
  • Pet insurance details (provider, policy number, status)

In the Health Records section, tap Add Document, choose a file from your device, and select the category (e.g., vaccination record, vet report). Supported file types include PDF and common image formats.

Uploaded documents are stored securely in Google Cloud Storage (Toronto, Canada region). Documents are accessible only through your account via secure, time-limited download links.

Yes. In the Health Records section, find the document and tap Delete. Deleted documents are permanently removed from our storage.


Subscription and Billing

The Free tier includes all core features - pet profiles, daily logging, reminders, trends, and health records - with the following daily limits:

  • 5 AI chat queries per day
  • 1 AI health insight per day
  • 1 local service search per day
  • 1 pet on your account

Premium includes everything in the free tier, plus:

  • 25 AI chat queries per day
  • 4 AI health insights per day
  • 4 local service searches per day (up to 24 per month)
  • Up to 3 pets on your account

Annual plans save approximately 33% compared to monthly billing.

When you first set up the app, you'll be offered a 14-day free trial of Premium. Tap Start Free Trial to activate it. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid Premium plan.

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) - not directly through PetAura.

To cancel on iOS:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name → Subscriptions
  3. Tap PetAura → Cancel Subscription

To cancel on Android:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
  3. Tap PetAura → Cancel subscription

Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. After cancellation, you retain Premium access until the end of your current paid period.

Billing is handled by Apple or Google. Contact Apple Support (support.apple.com) or Google Play Help for billing issues and refund requests. PetAura does not directly process payments or issue refunds.

No. Cancelling your subscription downgrades your account to the free tier at the end of your billing period. Your data is retained. To permanently delete your account and all data, see "How do I delete my account?" above.

Yes. Cancel your current subscription (it remains active until its end date), then resubscribe and select the annual plan. Contact us at [email protected] if you need help with this process.


Privacy and Data

See our full Privacy Policy for a complete data inventory. In summary, we collect account information, pet profile data, daily health logs, health records (including vet and insurance info), AI conversation history, and push notification tokens. We do not collect payment card data or GPS location.

No. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

Only you. PetAura staff do not routinely access individual user data. Your data is not shared with other users or third parties, except as described in our Privacy Policy (our infrastructure providers and the Abacus AI service used to process AI queries).

Email [email protected] with the subject "Data Access Request" and your registered email address. We will respond within 30 days.

Submit a deletion request at Delete My Account or email [email protected] with the subject "Account Deletion Request." See our Privacy Policy §8 for what is deleted and the timeline.


Technical Issues

Try the following steps in order:

  1. Force-close and restart the app
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Restart your device
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the app (your data is stored in the cloud and will reappear when you log back in)

If the issue persists, email [email protected] with your device model and operating system version.

Your data is tied to your account, not your device. Log in with your existing email and password and your data will reload from our servers.

Use the in-app feedback form (More → Feedback) or visit petaura.pet/feedback. Please include:

  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened instead
  • Your device type and operating system version
